Tissue Procurement: Bovine tissues are harvested from 18 month old cows committed to slaughter. Joint tissues are collected from either the metacarpalphalangeal joint (“knuckle”) or for an additional charge the stifle joint (“knee”). Nasal septum cartilage is also available. Intervertebral disc tissue is harvested from the tail. Each tissue is carefully dissected and flushed with saline solution to wash away debris.

 

Processing: Tissues can be stored in RNALater solution and frozen at –80oC until shipping , flash frozen in liquid nitrogen or shipped fresh in 50/50 DMEM/F12 media supplemented with 10% FBS.
