Tissue Procurement: Human cartilage tissue is collected from cadaveric donors within 24 hours of death or as surgical specimens from a relevant procedure. The tissue is harvested from the surfaces of the knee joint from both clinically “normal” donors and from those diagnosed with rheumatoid and osteoarthritis. Proper consent and serological information is obtained on all specimens.

Processing: Cartilage can be stored in RNALater solution and frozen at –80oC until shipping , flash frozen in liquid nitrogen or shipped fresh in 50/50 DMEM/F12 media supplemented with 10% FBS. Frozen cartilage is shipped with dry ice.
